This memory scanner from ThreatExpert looks to be really a thorough threat detecting software. It does identify anything and everything that can be a potential threat to the system. While it’s not a run-time application like an antivirus that prevents threats from downloading, it has greater capabilities than antivirus software to identify potential risks already residing in the system memory. Malicious adware and spyware are always on the prowl on the internet and if they sneak into your system they can wreak havoc – stealthy programs can run in the background and record your keystrokes, steal banking passwords, record all your messenger conversations, read your emails, install and update malware silently without letting you know, use your resources to dial high cost international phone numbers, allow files to be transferred, and capture virtually every bit of data that resides and is transferred from your computer. With such kind of sophisticated threats making their way through into our computer, we need a more sophisticated software to detect them. ThreatExpert Memory Scanner claims to use techniques that are more advanced than other similar scanners to look for traces of threats residing in the memory. A recent case that corroborates their claims is the April Fool day’s “Storm”. While most others failed to detect it, this one did. It even scans hidden processes by temporarily installing its kernel driver. The current beta version does not remove the threats; it only detects them. But it does perform an intricate analysis and sends the report to the website. The threat submission applet is built-in and simple to use. ThreatExpert’s report is emailed to the user. This software is never a substitute for antivirus programs, but is meant to be run from time to time to scan the system for threats already present.
